  • 09:55-11:05, INGRID EKMAN, BERGSGATAN 4B (Cristine Berglund, Sophie Vukovic)

  • Ingrid, de 67 anos, decidiu lidar com o cancro por si mesma. Resguardou-se do mundo exterior e este resguardou-se dela, à excepção de visitas esporádicas dos serviços de assistência social. Mas quando a assistente domiciliar Frida bate à sua porta, desperta nela sentimentos que Ingrid vai ter dificuldade em expressar.

    67 year old Ingrid has decided to deal with cancer on her own. She retreats from the outside world and it retreats from her - apart from sporadic visits from the home care services. But then home care employee Frida knocks on her door and awakens feelings that Ingrid can't shut out.

  • Com Girls Just Wanna Have Fun a dominar os tops de vendas, Maya escreve no seu diário tudo aquilo que faz mover o seu mundo adolescente, desde o assassinato de Indira Gandhi até ao divórcio dos pais, passando pela última borbulha que lhe apareceu. Mas, de repente, nada parece importar quando uma nova rapariga chega à escola.

    A personal diary of a 13-year old girl named Maya dealing with puberty, pop culture, and her parents getting divorced. Doodled diary entries sketch an intimate journey of a teenager growing up in the 80's in India, negotiating her independence and freedom, and discovering the complexities of gender and sexuality.


  • CALLAS RELOADED (Fred Morin)

  • Uma montagem pessoal de um concerto que Callas deu no Covent Garden, em 1964. Todos os trechos musicais desapareceram e o som foi retrabalhado: a diva permanece em palco, só, quase sem fazer nada, ao som de estrondosos aplausos.

    A personal editing of a concert Callas gave at Covent Garden in 1964. All the musical parts have disappeared and the sound has been reworked: the diva remains alone on stage, almost without doing anything, to thunderous applause.


  • MIDNIGHT TEA (Sibila Lind)

  • Jo lutou, sofreu, manifestou-se em público, deixou-se rebaixar pela imprensa. Mesmo assim, a sua mensagem não passou. Foge à definição de transsexualidade por não ter a necessidade de fazer a cirurgia de redesignação de género.

    Jo fought, suffered, was outspoken, let herself down by the press. Still, her message never quite came through. She challenges the very definition of transsexuality by not having the need to make a gender reassignment surgery.


  • DESEOS (Carlos Motta)

  • A forma como a medicina, o direito e a religião moldaram o discurso do corpo e do género, através da narração de duas histórias: a de Martina, que viveu na Colômbia no século XIX e foi processada por ser hermafrodita, e a de Nour, que viveu em Beirute durante o Império Otomano e foi forçada a casar-se com o irmão da sua amante.

    The ways in which medicine, law, religion, and cultural tradition shaped dominant discourses of the gendered and sexual body through the narration of two parallel stories. The first is that of Martina, who lived in Colombia during the late colonial period of the early 19th century. The second is the life of Nour, who lived in Beirut during the late Ottoman Empire.


  • TATUAPE MAHAL TOWER (Carolina Markowicz , Fernanda Salloum)

  • Javier Juarez Garcia é um fantoche argentino que veio trabalhar nos stands de venda de apartamentos de São Paulo, aproveitando-se do boom imobiliário da cidade. Após uma grande decepção, Juarez decide mudar de vida e partir sem rumo pelo mundo. Mas ele não esqueceu o seu verdadeiro objectivo: voltar para São Paulo e redimir a sua honra.

    Javier Juarez Garcia is an Argentine model puppet who came to work in the real estate stands of apartments in São Paulo, taking advantage of the housing boom in the city. After a big disappointment, Juarez decides to change his life and move aimlessly around the world. But he does not forget his true purpose: to go back to São Paulo and redeem his honor.

    A trip to bury the director's grandmother's ashes results in an unearthing of things long obscured by time.

  • Alice e Louise são um casal. Elas querem um bebé. Tom oferece-se para ajudar. Este fim-de-semana eles decidem concretizá-lo.

    Alice and Louise are in a relationship. They want to have a child. Tom offers his help. This particular weekend they take the plunge.


  • LEFTOVERS (Michelle Citron)

  • Norma e Virginia viveram juntas em Chicago durante quase cinquenta anos. Morreram isoladas, muito tempo passado sobre a vibrante comunidade lésbica da sua juventude e meia-idade. Tudo o que restou foram as fotografias, num total de duas mil.

    Norma and Virginia lived together in Chicago for almost fifty years. They died isolated, the vibrant lesbian community of their youth and middle age long gone. All that was left were the photos - two thousand of them!


  • O RETRATO DE MÓNICA (João Cristóvão Leitão)

  • Mónica é, em potência, qualquer coisa. Por isso, os seus retratos nascem do justapor de sons e de imagens retiradas do arquivo audivoisual que é o YouTube. Negligenciam-se direitos de autor, usurpam-se os propósitos daqueles que são negligenciados e ensaiam-se verdades (im)possíveis.

    Monica is, in theory, anything. Therefore, her portraits are born from the juxtaposition of sounds and of images taken from the audiovisual archive that is YouTube. Copyrights are neglected, the purposes of those who are neglected are usurped and (im)possible truths are tested.

    Ahhh, renting an apartment in New York City — tiny, 'challenging' spaces coupled with enormous rents are to be expected. The most eccentric of landlords... directly above you... with an itchy speed-dial finger? — perhaps not as common.

  • Durante anos, os contos de fadas estavam entre os géneros mais populares do início da era do Cinema. Espectáculos de traje, com dança e magia, narrados por borboletas vingativas e gnomos astutos a conjurarem que nem loucos, manipulando esqueletos de feiticeiros. Estas visões celebravam a fantasia, a sensualidade e o desejo. Foram capazes de sacudir categorias sociais tradicionais e hierarquias, como a arte, e virá-las ao contrário.

    For a number of years, fairy tales counted among the most popular genres in Early Cinema. Costume spectacles full of dance and wizardry told of vengeful butterflies and cunning gnomes conjuring like mad using the skeletons of sorcerers. These visions celebrated fantasy, sensuality and desire. They were able to shake up traditional social categories and hierarchies, such as art, and turn them upside down.

    Short film about a person’s reality of dealing with his conflicting emotions regarding intimacy, sex and a relationship, at the same time as being confronted with intrusive memories of experiences from a traumatic past.


  • THAT DAY OF THE MONTH (Jirassaya Wongsutin)

    When best friends Goy and Lee realize that their period dates no longer coincide, they are forced to confront secrets and lies.

    The cheap white sport socks of the man in front of me in the checkout line at Aldi, reminded me of you.


  • TRÉMULO (Roberto Fiesco)

  • Carlos varre e enxuga o chão de uma velha barbearia. Na véspera do Dia da Independência, entre os clientes encontra-se Julio. Os seus olhares cruzam-se e quando o barbeiro fecha, Julio regressa para ver Carlos. Passam a noite juntos, a comer, a conversar e até mesmo a dançar, conscientes de que este será um encontro efémero.

    Carlos sweeps and mops the floor of an old-time barbershop. The day before Independence Day, among the customers is Julio. Their eyes meet, and when the barbershop closes Julio comes back for Carlos. They spend the night together, eating, chatting and even dancing, knowing full well that this encounter will be brief and short-lived.
