Joe Dante concebe, no decente BURYING THE EX, através do argumento de uma zombie ciumenta um recreio para as suas matrizes cinéfilas de referência, desde as mais óbvias — com THE EVIL DEAD à cabeça — até à obscura influência de Emilio Miraglia para a escolha do nome de uma das protagonistas. Nada nem ninguém se destacam neste caldinho de terror leve, embora Ashley Greene tenha os seus momentos e seja possível constatar que Anton Yelchin está um sósia acabado de Elijah Wood.

Through the use of a story concerning a jealous zombie girl, Joe Dante creates, in the decent BURYING THE EX, a playground for all of his cinematographic roots and references, from the obvious nod to THE EVIL DEAD to the obscure influence on Emilio Miraglia for the naming of one of the female leads. Nothing and no one stands out in this light horror mixture, altough Ashley Greene occasionally delivers and it is a fact that Anton Yelchin is a sheering dead ringer to Elijah Wood.
