Incluído na série Six Kinds of Light: Masters of Cinematography, produzida pela PBS em 1986, o episódio dedicado a John Alcott é, também, um relance sobre o método de trabalho de Stanley Kubrick — com quem o director de fotografia concebeu quatro filmes —, devidamente sumarizado na principal recordação de Shelley Duvall sobre SHINING (aos 18:41): "'The 18 and the tube!' Jack Nicholson and I would just cringe everytime we heard them say 'okay, give me the 18 and the tube'. And we were getting so disappointed... It makes furniture look great but, for faces, I don't think it does too well."
